How Do I Measure?
Before you start, put on a lightly lined bra — no push-ups or compression sports bras — and grab a soft measuring tape.
If you don’t have a measuring tape, it’s no big deal. A string and a ruler work too.

Size FAQs
different than what I’m used to. Is that right?
Yes! Sizing differs from brand to brand, and here at Pepper we’ve redesigned our sizing from the seams up. We recommend you trust your Pepper size calculated from your measurements to start.
If you feel that you’re in between sizes, then we recommend choosing based on how you like your bras to fit. Do you like a snug fit? Order the smaller size. Do you like a more relaxed fit? Order the larger!
This can also vary a little based on the specific style you’re looking at. Feel free to contact our team if we can help with specific advice!
Sister sizes are groups of bra-size equivalents that are related by cup volume, regardless of the band size and cup letter. For example, a 36A and a 38AA are technically the same size because the cup volume is the same. However, a 36A and a 38A are not equivalent sizes as the 36A cups will be smaller in volume.
The best way to use sister sizes is if your cup size feels good, but the band doesn’t. For example, if you’re a 36A, but the band feels too tight, you might like the 38AA better. Or, if the 36A band is too loose, then you might prefer the fit of a 34B.
We recommend choosing styles that are soft, pliable and less structured for growing and changing bodies. Some of our favorites are: Nursing Wirefree Bra, Limitless Wirefree Bra, SoftLife Modal Wirefree Bra, or FeelGood Wirefree Bra. All of these styles will allow for some cup size fluctuations, so we recommend ordering the size that fits your ribcage measurement the best.
other). What should I do?
Any breast shape can be asymmetrical, it's natural and common to be varying in size or placement. We recommend choosing the size that best fits your larger breast. Or, if there is a 2-cup size difference (or more), we recommend taking the average.
Also, adjust your straps! Sounds simple enough but play around with the length for optimal comfort and to help your bra hug your smaller side.
In terms of styles, we’ve found that bras with removable cups or light padding work best. Some of our favorites are: Limitless Wirefree Bra, SoftLife Modal Wirefree Bra, or FeelGood Wirefree Bra.
(mastectomy, explants, etc)
Breasts go through a lot of changes after a surgery. We recommend choosing styles that are soft, pliable, and less structured for evolving bodies, and styles without wires for more comfortable post-surgery healing.
Our favorite styles for healing breasts: Limitless Wirefree Bra, SoftLife Modal Wirefree Bra, or FeelGood Wirefree Bra.
Sizing isn't an exact science and can vary across different brands. While you might be one size in one brand you might be a different one in Pepper. How can you tell if your bra fits properly? Let's check each part of the bra:
- Band: The band should feel snug and comfortable on the loosest set of hooks. This allows you to move to the inner hooks to tighten as the band stretches with wear. The band should also be parallel to the floor and not ride up or shift with movement.
- Gore: The center bridge of the bra between the cups should lie flat against your sternum. It should not hover or dig in.
- Cups: The cups should lay flush against your breast tissue without any cup spillage or cup gapping.
- Underwire (if applicable): The underwire should lay comfortably under the breast tissue and follow the root of your breast without digging into the sides of the breast tissue or into the underarm area. The underwire shouldn't lay on top of your breast tissue or sit below your rib cage either.
- Bra straps: The bra straps stay in place without slipping or digging in. You should tighten the bra straps so they fit snug and comfortably on your shoulders.
order next?
- The band fits, but your cups are too big: Keep the same band size but go down a cup size. For example: If the 32A feels too big in the cups but the band fits perfectly, try the 32AA.
- The band fits, but the cups are too small: Keep the same band size but go up a cup size. For example: If the 32A feels too small in the cups but the band fits perfectly, try the 32B.
- The band is too big, but the cups fit perfectly: Go down a band size, and up a cup letter. For example: If the 32A is too big in the band but the cups fit perfectly, try the 30B.
- The band is too small, but the cups fit perfectly: Go up a band size, and down a cup letter. For example: if the 32A is too small in the band but the cups fit perfectly, try the 34AA.
- Both the band and cups are too small: Go up a bra size. For example: If the 32A was too small in both the band and cups, try the 34A.
- Both the band and cups are too big: Go down a bra size. For example: If the 32A was too big in both the band and cups, try the 30A.
As with any undergarment, we recommend taking the extra loving step to help them last:
- Hand Wash: Washing with cold water and mild detergent by hand can help your Pepper item maintain its shape and quality the longest.
- Use a Laundry Bag: When you can't hand wash, our laundry bags provide protection for your delicates from rough zippers and snags while in the laundry machine. Don't forget to tuck in the zipper before throwing it in the wash, remove any removable pads, and always use cold water.
- Air dry: Skip the dryer and lay your bra flat or on a rack. The harsh heat from the dryers can deform and wrinkle your bra.
- Switch it out: Wearing the same bra everyday puts a lot of stress on that garment. Having several bras in rotation reduces daily wear and tear (and gives you more colors to choose from!
